Soprano Lisa Daltirus

I thought her name looked familiar. Soprano Lisa Daltirus is the subject of the Sound Bites feature in the July Opera News. Read it if you can, and be aware that Daltirus is slated to sing Bess in Baltimore Opera's "Porgy and Bess" at the end of the 2008-09 season. No slight to another soprano intended, but after reading this essay, one might wish that Daltirus was singing Aida at the beginning of Baltimore's season. No matter: This "Porgy and Bess" is on my calendar. Daltirus will be singing opposite South African baritone Fikile Mvinjelwa as Porgy.
